I have started some new jewelry

These are listed for $14.00 each. they are made using faux pearls in most cases. I also have the Team Name in acrylic letter beads and a football bead. The OSU necklace does not have a football bead.
I also have some that I am making with pony beads, they will be listed for $5.00 each.
I would love to make more but I don't know all of the team colors

WE have a new grandson!! Miles Patrick Brumbly born Oct 3rd, 2011 about 8:30 am

although He did not care for the bright light in the room

he sure was ready to see His Mommy and to meet Daddy and his big sister Molly

Nothin but Love. This baby will be exposed to lots of laughter so I will be watching for that first smile soon.
Molly told me she will bring Him to Our house everyday so I can hug him and kiss him. I better hug and kiss on Molly first so she doesn't feel slighted by NaNa. After all she knew me first.
WE now have 8 grandchildren ... 6 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. I need a bigger dining room.

Any suggestions on how to raise some extra funds for a new dining room will be welcomed and appreciated.
We (Cecil and Myself) have been talking about adding on to the house toward the front where the deck is. That area is right off the kitchen and it would make a wonderful big dining room. I am willing to give up the deck of course. In my head I see it and it is long enough and wide enough for the long table of adults and a row of seats or padded benches along the windows will be great for all of these beautiful grandchildren. I know they would like to sit and eat where they are high enough to see the grown-ups table and have their own little table in front of them. Yes, Yes, Yes ...

Being Helpful ... using "HOW TO"

I started a team not long ago, but there was not much participation so my team merged with another team.
My reason for starting my own team has not changed it has only moved to a new location.

I want to help promote your shop, in doing so I am hopefully promoting my own shops.

You have heard of what some call the "GOLDEN RULE" treat others the way you want to be treated, that is actually in the Bible (Matthew 7:12) Jesus gave us this principle in His Sermon on the Mount. As a Christian I do try to live by this principle.

I started my own team to help and to be helped. I thought the fact that I have already learned how to do certain things HERE on ETSY would benefit others by making it easier for them to learn if they were given direction or instructions to talk them through the application or whatever new things they were attempting. I know I would and will appreciate the knowledge of others when they post their "HOW TO".

Let's use an etsy mini as an example. Although this is not a difficult task to undertake you don't know that yet if you have not made an etsy mini for yourself.
Or posted one on your blog. What is a gadget and how do I get a gadget to turn into my etsy mini. Well I wanted to help so I started a thread for just that. HELPING!!

The reason I picked an etsy mini was because I have convo'd the HOW TO to several sellers I wanted to promote on my blog but they needed some instruction on getting the script. So the idea for making an etsy mini the 1st benefit to my old team was born. "HOW TO MAKE AN ETSY MINI" was started - no participation on my old team.

New Team - The Captain is ME!

Etsy has alot of teams. I am sure there is a team to cover just about anything and everything you could ask for. Promotional Teams, BNR Teams, Instructional Teams, Teams for your Blog, Local Teams and International Teams. But I have been kicking around an idea for a team and so I thought I would give it a try. Do you remember the old threads? We had a wonderful thread "Item of the day" with Sophine as the Captain. I wanted to take that idea and bring it to a team. But these days when you post a full URL you get a picture. You can post as many link's as you want of course but only 5 pictures will appear and the rest are only URL's. So how do I get a team to post Sale Items in a way I can copy and paste through out the day adding shop after shop ... I wanted the 6th shop posting to look like the 5th shop posting. So how would I do this? The URL has to be altered so as NOT to present a picture of the item. Well OK I have learned to do this. It was on another team. It was a promotional team ... I think it was the PROMOTION COMMOTION Discussion Thread ... oh my, I apologize for not remembering which wonderful etsian helped me learn to alter an item's URL. That information was very helpful to me. That is how I am going to post the links for this New Team. YES!!!

half way through the year/my goals UPDATE

So we are at the end of June, 2011
If you follow this blog you may recall a few goals that I set, way back in December 2010, for myself and for my etsy shops. Well half the year has gone by ... How am I doing? Have I reached any milestones? Have I given up on any goals that I had set? Why did I set these goals in the 1st place?
I would like to start with the last question as to Why I set these goals in the 1st place. Again those that follow my blog may remember I posted my reasons back in December of 2010. If you are interested in reading that blog click here. I will note the highlights today. 33 years ago I met a man I wanted to spend all my days with. Time passes, our Family has now grown ... out on their own ... We (He and Me) are making plans for our future. His plan is to Retire and work in the Ministry more and more. Since our Ministry is voluntary someone has to have some sort of income to help with bills (those silly bills). That is where I come in. My goals are set to help Cecil reach His goal. To get Him closer to being able to retire from Maintenance work and helping Him turn His hope for the Ministry work as a full time Evangelizer into something tangible, reachable something He can actually see in His future.

So how am I doing in my goal to help Cecil reach His goal? I read posted comments about shops being a monetary means for this family or a 2nd income for that family and I wonder what are they doing to get the kind of sales needed to support a family. I am trying. My HandCrafted Jewelry shop does make sales but I have to mark items down and you know what that does to the bottom line. I make less in order for the Jewelry to sell. So I wonder ... IS my Jewelry UGLY? I don't think it is ugly. Of course some items are more appealing than others and I do list Jewelry Grab bags and jewelry for the younger generation. Are my shipping cost to high because I will tell you when I go to buy something the shipping cost will make or break the deal for me. So I am very aware of the shipping cost I list and I do refund excess shipping fees charged over a reasonable amount. I may keep a quarter or so to cover handling but if I over charge much more you get it back usually, to be honest I do forget sometimes or when Cecil ships for me He doesn't always tell me what the individual fees were. So I am saying it is not my shipping fees that is holding back the sales. I think my pictures have gotten better, less blurry so you can see the product I am selling. So it must be my prices !! So I mark them down and there starts a cycle of more sales but little profit. Until I list new items at a price I feel is justified for the work and the result. Now lets see if anyone else sees what I see.
On the other hand my Jewelry Supply Shop here on etsy is doing well but I keep my prices down because I usually get good deals on the merchandise I list. Low over head and low list price is quick sales that add up but still not enough to supplement our income.
Maybe I should just add more items to both shops so you have more choices. That is the direction I am going now.

Have I reached any milestones? yes I have reached several milestones. Both shops have over 200 sales each and my feedback is 100% in both shops. I try hard to maintain customer service and build a reputation of honesty and integrity.
Have I given up on any goals that I had set if so why did I give up on those goals? I have given up the Promotional Frenzy Thread that was specifically mentioned in my blog on set goals. Since we no longer post in threads but we have teams keeping up with the promotional frenzy team was just to much for me so I left that team.
Also I do not have BNR's every month. I did have at least 9 BNR's in March so I am still up on the count for the year. Bnr's have changed and we have different types to choose from now. The creativity I have found in the ideas of these BNR/BNS Treasury's are just amazing. My hat's off to you curators and you idea hatchers.
Do I add to my Etsy Shop weekly, new items? I think I do add new items to my shop on a regular basis. Both shops have over 100 items in them. I am hoping for over 150 items in each shop by the end of the year.
Am I experimenting with New Jewelry Designs? Yes, I am trying out new designs. I am working on a bracelet now that I am very pleased with but it ended up to long to be a bracelet and it just isn't right for an anklet so I have to undo one end and work with it so it still looks good and even and it is the length I want. 9) to relax alittle, take time to chat and make friends

Where Have I been??

I have not blogged in such a long time ... Where have I been? What have I been doing? I have been promoting my Supplies Shop on Etsy and it is doing well thanks to your support. But I have neglected my original shop on etsy ... My Jewelry Shop! So today I am going to promote my Jewelry. I am going to tell you how I got started with this endeavor of making jewelry and show you some pictures of the pieces I like the best. I am going to make you some deals and put some coupon codes in this blog and nowhere else. You will have to read this blog and leave a comment to use these special codes.
I started making jewelry to help me with the blues that I get during the winter.
my winter: I don't want to leave the house. I don't even want to leave my robe (I named robee) I get up, put on robee and whatever slippers I find handy (they do not have to match) get my coffee, which Cecil usually hands me already fixed with French Vanilla Creamer, take my daily meds, (you know - high blood pressure and such things) and that is only if I feel like it, sometimes I will sit at the kitchen table long enough for Cecil to read me the Bible Text for the day then off to the den where my beads are overflowing or the couch where Cecil has a small table for me because the den contents have spilled out into the living room. I have decided on the bead color for the day, or I have decided just to do bracelets or quick sets for the little ones. Whatever I have decided I am now ready to GET THROUGH ANOTHER WINTER DAY OF NO SUNSHINE ... and it begins.
so let me show you some of what has gotten me through these winters.

The 1st piece of Jewelry I want to show you is a bracelet ... I like making bracelets. All kinds of bracelets. This bracelet is multi-strand with small pearls, glass and acrylic beads. I have some wonderful focal links that look great and worked well for the multi-strand bracelets. Although I am not a pink type person I do work with pink beads when the mood hits me. This bracelet turned out very nice. It is a one of a kind. I have had many comments on this bracelet. It has been hearted, tweeted and posted to facebook but this bracelet has not been purchased. So this multi-strand pink pearl bracelet in included in the special coupon code I will put into this blog.

Next I want to show you a set I made using European Style Charms. I used 5 Faceted Bluish- Green Crystal European Style Charms and Sparkley faceted glass beads, more faceted crystals and some acrylic beads. Sparkle, Glimmer, shimmer and shine. This is a matching set. 17 inch Necklace, a Bracelet and Earrings about 1 inch long. The necklace is on stretchy cord with a toggle. I make necklaces on stretchy cord because sometimes our fingers are stiff or sore and the necklace may have a toggle or some other type of closure but it would be to difficult to wrestle with the closure. So stretchy cord seemed like a good decision. It is the right decision every time I make a new necklace for my mom. (She has arthritis) She does appreciate the stretchy cord on a pretty necklace so she can still wear it when no one is around to help with a clasp. So this dressy 3 piece set needs to be not just liked, tweeted and hearted but it needs to be worn and loved. This set will be included in the special coupon code mentioned in this blog.

I will try to keep my blog up. Now that the winter is over and the Sunshine is once again beaming through the windows of my den I am a little more active and a little more peppy. I even leave the den now ... maybe even the house.

March Madness Means BNR's

Don't forget ... another round of bnr's start tomorrow March 8th in the morning with another bnr in the evening. Both of the 1st 2 bnr's are only 90 minutes.
We start with only 4 shops.

5 hour BNR
2 spots for the 1st 6 buyers

The first 6 buyers will get 2 spots. After the whole treasury grid is filled we will Buy and Replace as usual for the remainder of the time.

Buy in as many times as you want. Have items in your shop that are priced under $10.00 please. Come to the party with a coupon code or special to help sway your potential buyer to buy from your shop. HELP PROMOTE ... it does us no good to have a BNR if we can not get the potential buyers to drop by and look around. Let your TEAM know you are in a BNR by posting on your discussion threads and emailing your etsy friends.

In March I will be having BNR rounds 2 days in a row. 2 - 90 minute BNR's. 1 - 5 hour or more BNR.
The 1st 90 minute BNR will start with only 4 shops, buy from one of those 4 shops to be featured in 2 spots. The first 6 buyers will get 2 spots. After the whole treasury grid is filled we will Buy and Replace as usual for the remainder of the 90 minutes. The last buyer will be carried over to start the next 90 minute BNR.
The 2nd 90 minute BNR will begin the same day a few hours later. Same procedure as in the 1st 90 minute BNR. This BNR will start with 4 shops. 1 carry over and 1 random pick from the shops that bought into the 1st round. We will again offer 2 spots for 1 purchase to the next 6 or seven buyers. After the treasury grid is full we will play and chat and buy in as usual. The last buyer will start the next BNR which will be a 5 hour BNR.
The 5 hour BNR will begin the next day. As in the previous BNR's we will start with 4 shops and the next 6 or seven shops to buy in will get 2 spots. After the treasury grid is full we will have a regular Buy N Replace fun time frenzy.
Buy in as many times as you want. Have items in your shop that are priced under $10.00 please. Come to the party with a coupon code or special to help sway your potential buyer to buy from your shop. The number drawn by the hand of my own wonderful Hubby is #44 ...... Woots and Hollers for Judy Harris owner of etsy shop Pinkroses Supply Shop.
I will be sending your $10.00 AMC Theaters Gift Card to you in tomorrow's mail.
Although Judy was NOT the 1st number drawn she is the winner. The 1st number drawn was #31 which belonged to LBtoyos of etsy's Lbtoyos HandMade Jewelry who lives in Spain. She let me know accepting this prize would do Her no good as those theaters are not found in Spain. She politely declined the prize. But we had to have a winner.
So as I stated earlier another number was drawn and the winner is # 44 ... Judy Harris! Congratulations to you Judy Harris.

A.) I want to see the new Jennifer Anniston movie .... I forget the name of it. It is the one where she pretends to be his wife...

You came through and I reached my goal of 150 sales by the end of Jan. 31, 2011

Tomorrow I put all the names of the buyers from the sales in Dec. 2010 and the sales in Jan. 2011 into a box or a hat or a bag and a hand goes in and a number or name comes out. That is the winner of the $10.00 AMC Theaters Gift Card.

The winner will be drawn from over 40 names/numbers. Each name is numbered and a number will be choosen. I will blog the list and the winner tomorrow. Maybe I should use that random number generator.
